Hi there!
Right on! Just give 'em something to think about!
My favorite topic is "when was Jerusalem destroyed?".

Mr Magoo
had a really interesting experience with a jw that came knocking on sunday and have to say that i couldn't have dealt with him as well as i did if it had not been for new found knowledge on the web and spending the last four months reading.
oh that's were you are definitely wrong he says i've studied the bible thoroughly and there are definitely no contradictions at all.
i say thank you for your time, very interesting chat but i find it laughable that anyone could say the bible is not full of contradictions.

please click here to read my story: http://www.geocities.com/ghenrymt/george.story.htm.. the story is not about how i became a witness, my experiences as a jw, how i left, and where i am now spiritually.
i will probably be inclined to post all that another time.
this story is about how i got into a lot of trouble, a deep pit financially and legally, by being a sincere jw and trusting my ex-wife (who is supposed to be a sincere jw also) farther than i can spit a rat.. i'm wondering if anyone knows of an attorney, preferably an ex-jw or someone who is familiar with jws and family law issues, who would be willing to provide me some general guidance.
i didnt mean to but it just came out and before i knew it i was crying and arguing with her.
well not really arguing but getting excited.
she got mad and said 'so what are you saying that you dont think this is the truth?
Hi there,
As I'm an "unbelieving mate" I would realy like to know what article this is mentioned in.
My wife attend christmas evening with me and my family, but she don't dance arround the tree though...
Take care.
Mr Magoo
i've just had an idea.
eureka!.
why don't those of us here who have non-dub partners, get them to write a short post on how they view the jw religion?
Hi' there,
Well... I've never been religous in any way, but I must say that my experiences with JW's after having been married to one for three years (and still is) have made me even less religous.
It has made me think a lot more over how mind control works. Over what drives people to do what they do, and why they ignore obvious faults, dissagreements etc.
My wife is still a JW, and is not looking at "apostate" information - yet. She does not attend every meeting though, and is seldom out preaching.
One day I'll present her with small issues to think about - haven't decided just how to do it yet. It must be done just the right way so that it gets her to think instead of reject the information.
Ups, back to the topic.
What I see when I look at all my new JW "friends" can be devided into 4 categories.
1) Devout JW doing a lot of work in the religion, and quite happy about it.
2) JW's strugling hard to do what is expected from them - but not at all happy about it.
3) JW's doing just what they are asked to do, when they are asked to do it. And not really bothered with it. Still loyal to the org.
3a) Same as 3 but they make their own rules, and don't feel that they have to report if they sin a little.
4) Fed up and on there way outs.
In the last three years I've seen (and known) and heard about several young witness couples getting divorced, mainly because of adultery. I've heard a LOT of gossip and rumors within "the walls". And this is really the most uncharming thing I've met in the org.
I've also seen people strugling with bad consciences and getting stressed over that they don't do what is exepected by them.
I've learned to "listen and nod" if something is discussed that I have a different opinion on - but don't want them to discover my agenda and stop talking.
I'm not sure if this was what you where looking for Englishman..
Take care

hi, folks,.
hmmm.
ive bitten myself off a pretty good chunk here, so bear with me as i try to figure out where to start.. two things id better say up front, though: none of this is meant to be in any way, a devaluing of the phenomenal work thats been done by anyone here on the board.
As I'm at work, this reply will only be a short one, even though I feel that this post deserves much more attention.
I'm quite sure that a more coordinated campaign would be of great benefit to "us".
The most coordinated we have at this point is - as i see it - web sites like this one and e.g. the watchtower observer.
I have several times thought of starting up a Danish site with informatione in Danish, but decided that in stead of setting up a new site, perhaps a special Danish area of the watchtower observer would be a better idea. Mainly due to the massive amount of information here, but also because the site has a lot of visitors. I've never contacted Kent regarding this though.
Well...actually all I want to say is that:
I think any type of coordination would be great, and I would be more than happy to translate any information into Danish (or vice versa) if needed.
Kind Regards
Mr Magoo
i remember the old witness joke about the pope going to heaven.
when he gets to the pearly gates they are locked and he demands entry.
the angel on guard says, who are you?
My lovely JW wife said the following to me the other evening:
"At the meeting today we were talking about the WTC disaster. We heard several stories about JWs who comforted crying and scared people. All that the other helpers could/did offer was water."
That really did piss me off because I really can't see why "normal" peoplo wouldn't be able to comfort and help others in this situation. And really - some of them propably was in need og water...
Take care!
Mr Magoo
is there a new breed of jw emerging, i wonder?.
i know that there are lots of real brainwashed dubs around who see demons behind every car boot sale item and who scuttle off to the elders with every bit of tittle-tattle imaginable, but, i think that there is a new type of dub who quietly does just as he / she pleases.. this is what i think: many of the long-serving jw's who have seen the 1975 failure and the 1914 generation change are now approaching old age with something of a jaundiced eye, and are choosing to do their own thing in their remaining years.
in conversations i am picking up it seems that the elders are being regarded somewhat derisively by many jw's.
Englishman,
NO! I don't believe what I'm reading! (Sure I do - and I think it's absolutely great!).
What I can't believe that they haven't been "allowed" to celebrate their wedding ani. This is one of the things they cherrish the most today! (In my family in law - anyway).
I'm married to a lovely JW, and she don't mind visiting my sisters house - and my sister is married to a Df'd mand.
And she has also agreed to visit my parents for christmas - she might just dont sing christmas songs or dance arround the christmas tree though. But she don't mind the rest of us are doing it.
Take care!

Mr. Magoo
i was just thinking about this.
having been raised "in the truth" post-1975, i didn't grow up with any specific year in mind.
yes, there was the notion of "this generation will by no means pass away," but by the time i was old enough to think about that concept, the people who were born in 1914 (to stretch it out as far as possible, as the society ultimately did) were still only in their 60's.
Not being - or ever have been - a JW I can't speak for myself.
I have how ever heard my wifes sisters husband say that he once thought that "If the end doesn't come before 2000, then something is wrong!".
Well year 2000 has come and gone - and he's still a JW..
Me father in law volunteered to get fired from his work when they were to fire some people. He did that because he expected the end to come in '75.
Stay Alive Until '75!
